There are some popular jailbreak tweaks available on Cydia that add functionality to iPhone’s virtual keyboard, but jailbreak tweak iKeywi that lets you add a 5th row of keys to the virtual keyboard is one of my favorite keyboard tweaks.

By default, iKeywi adds number keys in the fifth row, which means you can save time as you don’t have to tap on the 123 key to access them. It also gives quick access to some of the commonly used punctuations and symbols when you tap the Shift key.

The nice thing about the jailbreak tweak is that it allows you to customize the keys in the 5th row via the Settings app to any character you want, even an Emoji character. So if you’re a WhatsApp addict who sends a lot of smilies around, then you can add a smiley character to your iPhone’s virtual keyboard.

If you’re worried that adding the 5th row of keys to the virtual keyboard will make it cramped, then don’t worry. The tweak provides configuration options that allows you to adjust the height of the keys. So you can make them smaller or bigger based on your preference. After you have made the changes, you need to tap on Save and Respring option for the changes to take effect.

Please note that the tweak doesn’t add a fifth row of keys to the virtual keyboard in landscape mode. It also won’t in in jailbreak apps like Cydia and iFile that use root permission.

iKeywi for iPhone is available on Cydia for $1.99, and iKeyWi HD for iPad is available for $2.99. If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative, then check out exKey, which is available for $0.99. It just adds a 5th row of keys to the keyboard, but doesn’t offer the customization options like iKeywi. Check out the video walkthrough of the tweak below:
