Apple’s ‘By Innovation Only’ Event Roundup: Apple Arcade, Apple TV+, 7th Gen iPad, Apple Watch 5, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max

Apple concluded it “By Innovation Only” event by unveiling the new iPhone 11, 11 Pro, Apple Watch Series 5, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade and much more. Like last year Apple released three new iPhones with upgraded hardware including a triple rear camera setup for iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max.

Apple is also investing a lot in its services ecosystem. The Apple Arcade gaming service allows users to play 100 exclusive games at an attractive subscription fee of $4.99. In this segment, we will take a closer look at all the announcements made by Apple at the ‘By Innovation Only’ event.

Apple Arcade

Apple Arcade is priced at $4.99/month for a family membership and the subscription fee will entitle you to a curated set of games. Apple is also offering a one-month trial of Apple Arcade to new users.

All Apple Arcade games will be stripped from ads and in-app purchases. Most importantly you can access Apple Arcade games on all Apple devices including iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Furthermore, Apple Arcade supports family sharing with up to six members and all the games can be played offline.

Apple TV+

Apple has finally forrayed into video streaming space with Apple TV+. he brands new TV experience is designed to share “great stories” from TV and movies. Apple TV+ is an outlet for artists and creators to tell their stories. Apple is focussing on producing original content rather than taking the content licensing route. The company promises to offer new original shows every month

Apple TV+ is priced at $4.99/month and will be available starting from November 1. Apple is also offering a free 7 day trial for Apple TV+. Apple TV+ will be available in more than 100 countries starting from November 1.

7th Gen 10.2-inch iPad

7th gen iPad comes with smaller bezels and a bigger display while retaining the same dimensions as its predecessor. The bigger display still retains Apple Pencil support. This time around, the iPad also has Smart Connector to support a wider range of accessories, including Apple’s Smart Keyboard.

Most importantly the new iPad is made with iPadOS 13 in mind. Needless to say, it will allow you to multitask and run apps side-by-side seamlessly. The new iPad is prices start at $329 and is available in 32GB and 128GB variants.

Apple Watch Series 5

Apple Watch users yearned for an always-on display. This time around Apple has heard the users and fitted the Apple Watch Series 5 with always-on-display. Apple has achieved this by using an LTPO display, a new low-power display driver, and more to achieve this. Most importantly the new Apple Watch continues to offer 18-hours of battery life despite the always-on display.

The new Apple Watch also comes with a built-in Compass. This means one can use the Maps app on their Apple Watch Series 5 for navigation purposes. Apple Watch Series 5 price starts at $399 for the 40mm GPS variant while the LTE variant starts at $499.

Apple iPhone 11

Apple has meddled with its naming convention and that means the iPhone 11 is a successor to iPhone XR. the iPhone 11 retains the same 6.1-inch Liquid Retina LCD, though Apple has improved it with wider color gamut support and True Tone. Apple has improved the water-resistance capabilities of the iPhone 11 and it now carries an IP68 certification. The company has reintroduced bright color schemes and iPhone 11 will be available in Purple, Yellow, White, Green, Product Red, and Black.

The 12MP camera features a 6-element lens with f/1.8 aperture and OIS. Apple claims that its focus performance has improved noticeably especially in low-light. There is also a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 120-degree FoV and an f/2.4 aperture.

The iPhone 11 is priced at $699 and will hit the retail stores on September 20th.

iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max

Apple announced the successor to iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max in the form of iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max. The new iPhone 11 Pro series is powered by Apple’s A13 Bionic chip which offers up to 20% more performance. As far as display is concerned, the iPhone Pro comes with a 5.8-inch OLED display while the Pro Max comes with a 6.5-inch OLED panel.

The new iPhones come with triple rear camera unit. The primary camera retains the 12MP resolution but packs a new and bigger sensor and has 100% Focus Pixels. The 12MP telephoto lens also has a wider f/2.0 aperture and improved focusing performance. It has a 52mm focal length and features a 6-element lens.

Apple has finally included an ultra-wide-angle sensor on the iPhone 11 Pro. The third sensor offers a 120-degree field of view and an f/2.4 aperture.
