A week after Apple released the second beta of iOS 13, iPadOS 13 and macOS Catalina, the company has gone ahead and released the first public beta of the operating systems as well. Apple itself had said that the public beta testing of iOS 13, iPadOS 13, and macOS Catalina would start in July but it looks like it had a change of heart.
The first public beta of iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 are likely the same as the second developer beta of the OS released last week. Still, being the first public beta, it will have a lot of bugs and showstopping issues. If you plan on installing the public beta of iOS 13 or iPadOS 13 on your iPhone/iPad, be prepared to face a lot of issues with third-party apps as well.
The sheer number of new features in iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 might be tempting to try, but remember that since these OSes are months away from release, they are also extremely buggy in their current form. My recommendation would be to wait for at least a few more public beta releases before you go ahead and install iOS 13 or iPadOS 13 on your iPhone or iPad.
Alongside iOS 13 and iPadOS 13, Apple also released the first public beta of macOS Catalina. If you use your Mac for work purposes, you should avoid installing the first public beta of Catalina.
If you are not already a part of Apple’s public beta program, head over to this website to join the program. After that, you will be able to easily install the public beta of iOS 13, iPadOS 13, or macOS Catalina via an update.
