Apple has launched a new repair program for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus users whose devices have been unexpectedly shutting down. The company says that the issue only affects a very small set of devices with a limited serial number manufactured between September and October 2015.

To fix the issue, Apple is replacing the battery of the affected handsets for free. However, the company notes that if your iPhone 6s has a cracked screen or any other damage that can affect the replacement of the battery, then that problem needs to be resolved first before the company can change the battery. Such repairs will not be covered by Apple and users would have to pay for them.

The company is urging users affected with this issue to head over to their nearest Apple Authorized Service Provider, get the serial number of their device checked to confirm their eligibility before they can get the battery replaced. And if you have already gotten the battery of your iPhone 6s replaced due to this issue, Apple requests you to contact them for a refund.

The new repair program from Apple comes just three days after the company launched the “Touch Disease” repair program for the iPhone 6 Plus.
