Notification Center does a neat job of displaying alerts from all your apps and games –but if you’d rather view these when you want and not have your device light up every time you get a notification, help is just a paragraph away. Here’s how you can disable Notifications on your lock screen.

  • Launch Settings from the home screen.
  • Tap Notification Center.
  • Scroll down to the Access on Lock Screen section, and turn off Notifications View and Today View.

Now, you won’t receive see alerts on your lock screen from apps or events from your calendar. If you want to still see event alerts, leave Today View on.

If you’d like to continue to receive alerts from apps and events in Notification Center, but avoid receiving notifications on your lock screen only from certain apps (like games), you’ll need to disable them for each individual app. Here’s how:

  • Launch Settings from the home screen.
  • Tap Notification Center.
  • Scroll down to the Include section which lists apps that send notifications, and tap the app you want to disable lock screen notifications for.
Find an app whose notifications you want to disable on your lock screen from the list

  • In the Alerts section on the next screen, disable the Show on Lock Screen option.

You’ll no longer see notifications from that app pop up on your lock screen, but you’ll be able to view them when you open Notification Center by swiping down when your device is unlocked.
