As far as software goes, Apple has been going through a sort of rough patch, needing software updates to fix small issue to glaring security vulnerabilities.

The latest discovery, as published today by MacRumors is on the minor side of things, but it just goes to show that there is at least one more little issue creeping in iOS, this one present in a variety of different versions. The publication was able to reproduce the issue in iOS 11.1.2, 11.2, 11.2.1, and even the iOS 11.2.5 developer beta that was seeded this week.

To get it to work, these are the steps you’d need to take to see the bug in full effect:

• 1. Open the Messages app
• 2. Start a new conversation
• 3. Send a single emoji to the contact of your choice
• 4. Watch the interface go blank in major areas

As you can see from the screenshot at the top of this article, several elements of the interface will just go blank — including the recipient’s name and contact image. The small “I” icon will also not be present, either, so you won’t be able to dig into the conversation’s details. Even the single emoji you sent should be gone, too.

The only way to get it to start working again, based on the publication’s findings, is to force close the Messages app from the multitasking function and reopen the app. Once the app is launched again the interface should be filled in, you’ll see the emoji back, and the app should start working as intended.

There is no word on when Apple might fix this issue, but considering that it is present across versions, one has to hope it is soon. Have you run into this problem at all?
