With the release of watchOS 2, Apple introduced an interesting new feature for Apple Watch called Nightstand mode. When you plug your watch to the charger and place it on its side, the display will remain turned on allowing you to use the watch as a nightstand clock or an alarm clock.
Setting up Nightstand mode is pretty simple and just requires the flick of a toggle. To find out how to enable Nightstand mode on your Apple Watch, follow the steps below.
How to Turn On Nightstand Mode on Apple Watch
Step 1: On your Apple Watch, launch the Settings app.
Step 2: Tap on General.
Step 3: Find Nightstand Mode and open it.
Step 4: Turn on the toggle to activate Nightstand mode.
Now, connect your watch to the charger and place it on its side to activate Nightstand mode. This displays the time horizontally along with additional information such as the current date, upcoming alarm and battery level.
As you get closer to an alarm set on your device, the screen will start to brighten gradually. Once the alarm goes off, you can use the digital crown or the side button to disable or snooze it.
When your Apple Watch is in Nightstand mode and you aren’t using it, the display turns off automatically. To turn on the display again, you can either tap on it, press the Digital Crown or use the side button. In some cases, even tapping the table might work.
