iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus support Voice over LTE (VoLTE) that allow you to make wideband high quality more “naturally sounding” calls.

It also allows you to surf the web while you’re talking at 4G LTE speeds.

The VoLTE feature is not enabled by default, and it also depends on your carrier, as only a few carriers are supporting VoLTE. Check this list to find out if your carrier supports VoLTE:

If your carrier supports the feature, then follow these simple steps to enable VoLTE on your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus.

  • Launch the Settings app
  • Tap Cellular
  • Tap Enable 4G or LTE
  • Then tap Voice & Data to select it.

That’s it. You should now be able to surf the web at 4G LTE speeds, while on a call, and also enjoy HD voice calls if your carrier is supporting the feature.

You can test if you’re getting 4G LTE speed while surfing the web while on a call by using the Speedtest.net app [iTunes link] before and after enabling the feature.

Let us know how it goes in the comments. Please note that we expect carriers around the world to add support for VoLTE, so we’ll try to keep the list of carriers updated as much as possible. If your carrier supports VoLTE then let us know in the comments.
