If you are trying to install iOS 13.3 software update, but it is stuck at ‘Update Requested’ for a long time while trying to install iOS 13.3 OTA update on your iPhone or iPad then you can try the few solutions to fix the annoying issue to successfully install the iOS 13.3 update to check out the new features.
It’s common for users to face such issues while updating to a new iOS version on the day of release. After all, there are millions of people who are attempting to perform an update at the same time as you and this puts a lot of stress on Apple servers.
To better handle the surge in traffic on their servers during major iOS software updates, Apple introduced a feature a few years back to buffer the surge in requests to download the latest iOS software update.
So when you launch the Settings app and navigate to General > Software Update on your iPhone and attempt to download the iOS 13 OTA update, you will get an “Update requested…” message. After some time, depending on the load on the servers, the iOS 13 OTA software update should start getting downloaded. However, in some cases, it could take a very long time, and you would be stuck at “Update Requested”.
How to Fix iOS 13.3 OTA Update Stuck at ‘Update Requested’
Here are some methods that you can try to fix the issue if you’re stuck at ‘Update Requested’ while installing the iOS 13.3 OTA update:
1. Retry after Some Time
I would recommend waiting some time or at least not trying to download immediately after iOS 13.3 is released. There is usually a flood of users downloading a major iOS software update, which can significantly slow down the download of the software update and at times has also caused major issues. So be patient and download the iOS 13 software update after the floor of requests has slowed down. It also gives you enough time to find out if there is a major issue with the update.
If you are not in a great hurry, then I would recommend trying to install it after a day. The update will not only start downloading immediately, but it will also get downloaded a lot faster.
2. Restart your iPhone or iPad
If the iOS 13.3 update is stuck at “Update requested…” for a very long time (more than say 15 mins), like all tech problems, there is no harm in starting off by restarting your iPhone or iPad to see it helps.
Once restarted, you can launch the Settings app, navigate to General > Software Update and try to ‘Download and Install’ the iOS 13 software update again.
3. Perform a Hard Reset
If the simple restart doesn’t help, and you get stuck again at ‘Update requested’ then perform a hard reset on your iPhone by holding down the Power and Home buttons together until you see the Apple logo on your screen.
Once restarted, you can launch the Settings app, navigate to General > Software Update and try to ‘Download and Install’ the iOS 13 software update again.
4. Update via iTunes
If none of the above solutions work, then you can go with the traditional method of installing the iOS 13 update using iTunes. Simply plug in your device to your computer, launch iTunes and click on the Update button in the Summary tab to begin the update process.
These are some solutions that you can try to get past the “Update requested…” message and start the iOS 13 download.
