Have you upgraded to Windows 10 and found out that iTunes is not recognizing your iPhone or iPad? Well you’re not alone as it seems that many other users who upgraded to Windows 10 are also complaining that iTunes is not detecting their iOS device when connecting it to a computer with Windows 10 installed.
This issue seems to be common among Windows 10 users and there’s no single fix for this problem. Instead, there are a couple of different solutions which have worked for users. In today’s tutorial, we will show you how to fix iTunes when it doesn’t recognize your iPhone or iPad in Windows 10.
Fix iTunes Not Detecting iPhone on Windows 10
1. Uninstall and Re-install iTunes
Delete iTunes from your computer and then download the latest version and install it. Whenever a new version of iTunes is released, it usually contains a number of bug fixes therefore it is important that you update iTunes to the latest available version to iron out any known issues.
2. Update to the latest version of iTunes
If you already have iTunes installed, then make sure that it is updated to the latest version. You can check and download the latest available version of iTunes from Apple’s website.
3. Reboot your iPhone and PC
Try rebooting both your iPhone and PC and then check to see if iTunes now recognizes your iPhone. To reboot your iPhone, hold the Power button and then slide to power off.
4. Connect your iPhone to a different USB port on your computer
Sometimes, the issue may be with the USB port which is why your iPhone isn’t connecting properly. To fix this, try connecting your iPhone to another USB port on your computer.
5. Use a different USB cable
The USB cable that you are using may not be working properly and this prevents your iPhone from connecting to your computer. To fix this, use a different USB cable which works fine.
6. Trust your computer prompt
When you connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer and open iTunes, a prompt appears on your iPhone that says “Trust This Computer?”. Make sure that you tap on the “Trust” button so that iTunes can detect your iPhone.
7. Install the Available Windows Updates
Open Settings by pressing Windows key + I and then go to Update & Security -> Windows Update. Make sure that your computer is up-to-date and all the Windows updates have been installed.
These are some of the ways of fixing iTunes if it doesn’t detect your iPhone or iPad on Windows 10. If none of the above methods work, then it is likely that some third-party software or driver on your computer is conflicting with iTunes and Apple’s services. You may want to start afresh by re-installing Windows to fix this issue.
