Dark mode has been something iOS users have been wanting to try for quite some time now. There were a lot of rumors that we were going to see it with the release of iOS 10, but with every update, we never were graced with its presence. But, is there a hidden dark mode in iOS 10? There might just be.
Unfortunately, screenshots don’t work with this “feature” so if you want to see what it looks like, but sure to check out the video below:
Normally when you invert the colors on your iPhone, it does just that and inverts the colors. Although, there is 1 exception and that’s the Apple Store app. As you can see in the thumbnail of the video, since the images in the Apple Store app probably have a transparent background, it essentially gives the Apple Store app a “dark mode” feel.
The easiest way to set it up is to go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut > Invert Colors. Now every time you triple-click the home button it will invert the colors on your device. You’ll notice that nothing really looks all that great if you poke around different apps, but if you go inside the Apple Store app and triple click the home button to invert the colors you’ll notice that the App Store will actually relaunch/reload itself. This hints that there is something going on here since no other applications do this.
If you scroll around and tap on menus in the Apple Store app, everything looks great, which makes me believe that there was definitely some work done here inside this app.
Do you think this alludes to a dark mode in iOS 11? Let me know what you guys think about this feature in the comments!
If you’ve jailbroken your iPhone, then check out Eclipse 4, the jailbreak tweak brings system-wide dark mode to your jailbroken iPhone.
