Amazon Echo Apple Music Integration

As promised, Amazon has rolled out Apple Music support for Alexa for its Echo set of smart speakers. The integration has actually gone live a few days ahead of its scheduled arrival and you can now stream your favorite tunes from Apple Music on your Echo Speaker.

For now, the Apple Music integration is only available for Amazon’s own set of Echo speakers and not third-party speakers with Alexa integration. If you use an Amazon Echo smart speaker and are wondering how to set Apple Music as your default music streaming service, follow the steps below.

Enable Apple Music Integration with Amazon Echo

Step 1: Open the Amazon Alexa app on your iPhone or iPad and tap the menu app in the upper-left corner. If you are on PC, head over to this link and log in with your Amazon account.

Step 2: From there, Settings -> Alexa Preferences -> Music.

Step 3: Select the Link New Service option. You will be presented with a list of music service providers that are compatible with Alexa including Apple Music and Spotify. Select Apple Music, confirm your selection, and then proceed to login with your Apple Music/ID account.

Right now, you have only enabled Apple Music as one of the music streaming service on your Echo speaker. To stream music from Apple Music, you will have to add a “on Apple Music” command to every command. If you want to avoid this and set Apple Music as your default streaming music provider for Echo, follow the below steps.

Set Apple Music As the Default Music Service on Amazon Echo

Step 1: Head over to Settings -> Music in the Amazon Alexa app.

Step 2: Under Account Settings, navigate to Default Services and select Apple Music from the list.

With everything done, you can now ask Alexa to play songs from your favorite artists, albums, or genres and it will directly play them back from Apple Music. You can even ask Alexa to stream a playlist from iCloud Music Library, Beats 1 radio, or one of the many playlists available on Apple Music.

Do note that Apple Music integration is only available for Amazon Echo speakers and not third-party speakers running Alexa.
