How to install AFC2 and access your iPhone or iPad’s filesystem after jailbreaking iOS 8.3

TaiG 2.1.2 jailbreak tool was released recently to fix the UI Cache and Cydia Substrate issues along with fixing bugs in the tool. If you’ve already jailbroken your iOS 8.3 device using TaiG, it is also a good idea to install AFC2 as well.

AFC2 gives you access to the full iOS filesystem over USB, using third-party tools such as iFile or iExplorer. Without this package installed, you will not be able to gain access to the root filesystem. To find out how to install AFC2 package on your jailbroken iOS 8.3 device, follow the step-by-step guide below.

How to install AFC2 after jailbreaking iOS 8.3

Step 1: Open Cydia from your iOS device’s Home screen.

Step 2: Tap on the ‘Search’ tab.

Step 3: Type ‘Apple file’ into the Search bar and you should see a packaged labelled ‘Apple File Conduit “2”‘. Tap on it to open.

Step 4: Press Install followed by Confirm button to download and install the package on your iOS device. Once done, you’re required to respring your device for the changes to take place.

After you’re device boots up, you should be able to access your iOS filesystem using third-party tools like iExplorer or iFunBox. Read on to find out more about it.

How to browse iOS filesystem using iExplorer

Step 1: Download and install an iOS file browser tool such as iExplorer (download link) or iFunBox (download link). In this tutorial, we will be using iExplorer.

Step 2: Once installed, connect your iOS device to your computer via a USB cable and launch iExplorer.

Step 3: Locate and click on the ‘Root’ folder available in the sidebar. You should now gain access to your device’s filesystem and browse it freely. If AFC2 is not installed, you will not be able to see the Root folder.
