iSHSHit is a new jailbreak application available on the Cydia store that will allows users to take a backup of SHSH blobs directly from their iDevice.

This is a great alternative to the popular TinyUmbrella application and lets users save the SHSH blob on the Cydia server as well as email the backup to their inbox for future use. Before we proceed on the installation instructions, here is a quick run-through on what SHSH blobs are and how they are useful. An SHSH blob (also known as ECID SHSH) is basically a form of digital signature that Apple assigns to every iDevice. These signatures are used for authentication purposes every time a user connects their iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad to iTunes to restore or upgrade their firmware.

Whenever a user upgrades to a new version of iOS, Apple deletes the existing SHSH blob and creates a new blob. Consequently, it is always useful to save the existing SHSH blob using applications like TinyUmbrella or iSHSHit in order to be able to downgrade to an older firmware easily.

This guide below will take you through the different steps required to save your SHSH blobs using the iSHSHit application. Do note that you will need a jailbroken iPhone to carry out the procedure. You can read about the latest jailbreak update from the iPhone Dev team by clicking here.

Step 1: iSHSHit is a free app available from the BigBoss repo on Cydia. To start with, launch Cydia on your iPhone or iPad and download and install this application from Cydia.

Step 2: Launch the iSHSHit app from the iPhone Springboard. The application screen will look something like this
