Reachability is a feature that Apple introduced for iPhones with a big screen such as the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. The purpose of Reachability is to push all the contents of the screen towards the bottom half when activated. This allows you to easily reach the corners of an app without going through a hassle and encourages one-handed use.

Reachability is activated when you tap your fingers twice on the Home button. Sometimes you may find yourself opening Reachability by mistake. While it’s easy to close Reachability by double tapping on the Home button again, it can become annoying if you constantly activate it by mistake.

Fortunately, there is a way that you can disable Reachability once and for all. As of this writing, Reachability is available for iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. If you own any of these models, read the steps below to find out how to disable Reachability.

How to Disable Reachability on iPhone

Step 1: Launch the Settings app.

Step 2: Head to General -> Accessibility.

Step 3: Scroll to the bottom of the pane and you’ll find a toggle labelled Reachability. Turn off the toggle to disable Reachability.

Now that it has been disabled, if you attempt to double tap on the Home button, Reachability will not be activated anymore. Currently, there’s no way that you can use this gesture for performing other actions so it’s either you use it for Reachability or forget it completely after disabling the feature.

If you wish to enable Reachability again, you simply have to go back to the Accessibility section of Settings and toggle on Reachability, just like how you disabled it. You will then be able to tap twice on the Home button to use the feature.
