iMessage Effects, both bubble and full screen, were some of the most fun elements in the updated iOS 10. But on day one, we discovered that they just didn’t show up for a lot of users. People who had the “Reduce Motion” accessibility feature turned on. A lot of users did this after iOS 7 came out. This setting removes the animations from the OS. Like opening and closing apps. But to be able to send Lasers to group chats, these users now had to disable Reduce Motion.

Not anymore. Now, you can have your Lasers and say goodbye to OS animations as well? Because Apple has acknowledged this problem and added a new toggle in iOS 10.1.

To be able to turn this feature on, you’ll need to be running iOS 10.1. To check if you are, or to upgrade, open the “Settings” app and go to “General” -> “Software Update“.

Now Go To Accessibility

Now, from the “General” section in Settings, tap on “Accessibility” and select “Reduce Motion“.

Turn “Reduce Motion” on.

Now a new toggle will show up, just below.

Toggle on “Auto-play Message Effects” and you’re done.
