Apple restricts you to the type of files you can send through Message. You’re only allowed to send photos and videos as well as audio messages which you just recorded in the Messages app. iMAllFile is a new jailbreak tweak that aims to get rid of these restrictions.

With the tweak installed, you can easily send any type of file to your contacts from iMessage using iOS’s filesystem. It adds a new icon to the Navigation Bar in the conversation interface. Tapping on it opens your device’s filesystem where you can navigate through folders and find the file which you’d like to send.

Once you choose a file, it will be placed in the text field where you normally type your message. You can then tap on the Send button to send the file to your contact. Keep in mind that this only works with iMessage. If you try to send a file as an SMS, it will will crash the Messages app.

Once you install the tweak, a new preference pane is added to the stock Settings app where you can enable or disable the tweak on demand. Other than this, there’s no settings to configure so once you’ve installed it and enabled the tweak, you’re good to go.

The tweak was recently pulled by the developer from Cydia because it had a few issues that caused the Messages app to crash, but it now seems to work properly, at least on my side.

If you’d like to give this tweak a try, head to Cydia and purchase iMAllFile for $0.99 from Cydia’s BigBoss repository. The tweak supports both iOS 7 and iOS 8 devices.
