How to use the page up and page down function on a Mac

Not all keyboards are made the same. There are full keyboards, ergonomic keyboards, keyboards different layouts and more. For people who read a lot on the web or need to scan pages quickly, the page up and page down keys are vital keys to productivity. With most Mac laptop and computers the Page Up and Page Down keys are not present on the standard Apple keyboards. But you can still use the function. 

How to use the page up/down function on a Mac

While you won’t find the keys for page up or down, you can use the fn key along with the up or down arrow to enable the page up and page down function.

Keyboard - Page UpFN is short for function, and is most often used for the F options above the numbers on your keyboard. By default, the F keys are only put into action when you hold the FN key as well. This is so that the Apple defaults like Dashboard and Volume Control will work without you needing to hold the function key.

However, if you are a former PC users or just want to use the F keys as you would on a normal keyboard you can enable the option in System Preferences.

In Keyboard click on the box to, “Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys.”

With this checked the F keys will function as they would for your system. You can also change these functions under the Shortcuts tab. Tap on the key you want to change (^F7) and enter in the new shortcut.
