Apple yesterday released the first developer beta of iOS 13.2 and iPadOS 13.2. This beta is particularly important for iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro owners since it brings the Deep Fusion image processing technology to these phones. Apart from that as well though, iOS 13.2 beta 1 packs a number of changes.

Apple has been on a roll right since it first released iOS 13 to the public on September 19, 2019. Since then, the company has gone ahead and rolled out iOS 13.1, iOS 13.1.1, iOS 13.1.2, and now the first developer beta of iOS 13.2. This is a major point release of iOS 13 and will bring at least a few useful features and enhancements to the table.

Below is a look at all the changes and improvements that iOS 13.2 beta 1 and iPadOS 13.2 beta 1 bring.

iOS 13.2 and iPadOS 13.2 Beta 1: What’s New

Deep Fusion

This is a big one. Apple talked about the Deep Fusion image processing technology when it unveiled the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro last month. This feature will work entirely in the background and help improve the image quality in terms of details and sharpness in medium to low-light scenarios.

Announce Incoming Messages

Siri can now once again read all your incoming messages in iOS 13.2. The feature was present before in the iOS before Apple removed it. You can enable this feature from Settings -> Siri and enabling the toggle for Announce Messages with Siri.

Research in Privacy Settings

There’s a new Research option under Settings -> Privacy for Apple’s upcoming Research app. It is possible that Apple will launch the Research app alongside the public release of iOS 13.2.

Transfer to HomePod

iOS 13.2 beta 1 enables Handoff support for the HomePod. If your HomePod is running the latest HomePodOS, you can bring your iPhone running iOS 13.2 beta 1 close to its top to transfer the playback of media from your iPhone to the smart speaker.

Playback Device Icon in Volume Control

The volume indicator in the Control Center will show the device icon on which you are playing music. So, if you are using AirPods to listen to music, the volume slider in Control Center will show its icon.

Hints of New AirPods

iOS 13.2 beta 1 contains references to Apple’s upcoming AirPods featuring active noise cancellation.

Close Windows from Multitasking Picker

You can now directly close Safari windows from the multitasking picker.

Automatically AirPlay to Apple TV

You can automatically allow your iPhone to connect and AirPlay content to your Apple TV. This feature will only work with apps that you use to frequently AirPlay content to your TV.

Music App Now Shows Listening History

The Music app in iOS 13.2 beta 1 now shows your music history. It can be accessed from the Up Next screen.
