SoftBank’s President Ken Miyauchi seems to have accidentally revealed the release date for iPhone 11 at an investor conference earlier this week.

The Japanese government recently announced a new Telecommunications Business Law which is slated to go into effect from 1st October. The new law will see mobile carriers offering separate data and voice packs in Japan. Up until now, Japanese carriers have been bundling voice and data packs into one with flagship smartphones and charge users a premium for it.

During the investor conference, Mr. Atsushi Ishikawa asked Miyauchi what SoftBank will do about the launch the iPhone 11 in mid-September since the law is going into effect on October 1st.

To this, Miyauchi replied that he was wondering what SoftBank should do for 10 days. He then quickly backtracked saying he should not have said that.

“Honestly, wondering what should I do but about for 10 days, no I should stop say that.Anyway I don’t know when to release the new iPhone however almost after 10 days, it will be unbundled, and it will be making bundle after that.” – Ken Miyauchi said.

What this means is that the iPhone 11 could launch on September 20th. This would be in line with our expectations as we expect Apple to hold the iPhone 11 launch event on September 10th, and iPhone 11 release date to be September 20th. The device would then go up for pre-order on September 13 before hitting the retail stores a week later on September 20th.

The iPhone 11 series will include a triple-camera system, bigger batteries, reverse wireless charging, and Apple’s new A13 chip for improved performance. The third new ultra-wide angle camera lens would be a major new addition. Apple is also expected to ditch 3D Touch and introduce a new Taptic Engine with improved haptic feedback.
