Last week, iPhone Dev Team had released Ultrasn0w 1.0-1 making it the first software solution to unlock iPhone 4.
It has been extremely popular as more than 750,000 iPhone users have already used it to unlocked their iPhone.
Dev Team have just released an updated version of Ultrasn0w – Ultrasn0w 1.1-1 to improve standby battery life.
iPhone Dev Team announced the new version of Ultrasn0w via Twitter:
ultrasn0w upgraded to version 1.1-1 we've tweaked a few things that may help with standby battery life, you can upgrade via Cydia.
Ultrasn0w 1.1-1 can be installed from Cydia by iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 users to unlock their iPhone on iOS 4 or iOS 4.0.1 or earlier (upto iPhone OS 3.0).
Here are the steps that you can follow:
-
Launch Cydia
-
Please add the repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com to Cydia. That last “o” is actually the number zero “0”. If you use the letter “o” you’ll get an error.
-
Then search for ‘ultrasn0w’ in Cydia and install ultrasn0w. This should successfully unlock your iPhone.
-
T-Mobile USA users should disable 3G before using ultrasn0w.
If you’ve already installed Ultrasn0w then launch Cydia and tap on changes to install the updated version.
Ultrasn0w 1.1-1 will also work with iOS 4.0.2 as it does not include a baseband update but it is meaningless at as now for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 users as currently there is no solution to jailbreak iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4.
Luckily, iPhone 3G users and iPod Touch 2nd generation (non-MC version) can use Redsn0w (v0.9.5b5-5) to jailbreak iOS 4.0.2. If you need help, you can checkout our step-by-step guide on how to jailbreaking iOS 4.0.2 using Redsn0w:
As always, let us know how it goes.
