If you have jailbroken your Apple TV, then the wait is finally over, Kevin Bradley has released nitoTV for tvOS. It currently works with tvOS 9.x-10.1 and tvOS 10.2.2.
nitoTV is a package manager, similar to Cydia for jailbroken iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The lack of a package manager like Cydia that allows you to install, update and uninstall jailbreak tweaks, has been one of the reasons jailbreaks for Apple TV haven’t been popular. nitoTV aims to change it.
nitoTV supports tvOS 9.x-10.1 and tvOS 10.2.2, which means you would need to jailbreak Apple TV using Pangu for tvOS 9, LiberTV for tvOS 10.x, and greeng0blin for tvOS 10.2.2. Support for tvOS 11 is also expected in the future.
The installer for nitoTV for tvOS is currently available only for the Mac. In case you use greeng0blin for tvOS 10.2.2, which is also developed by Bradley, then it installs nitoTV as well.
We are yet to see many useful packages/tweaks being released for jailbroken Apple TV, so let us hope that this kicks off a wave of jailbreak tweaks for Apple TV.
You can download nitoTV for tvOS installer from the official website. After launching the installer, it will check if your Apple TV is jailbroken before it gives you the option to install the payload.
Let us know how it goes in the comments.
