Snapchat was the first app to roll out a feature called ‘Stories’ that allows users to share photos and videos that last up to 24 hours before disappearing. Soon, many social media and messaging apps followed Snapchat’s footsteps to roll out their own version of Stories in their apps. WhatsApp is one such app which added a similar feature to their app called Status.
Using WhatsApp Status, you can share photos and videos with all of your WhatsApp contacts, which will remain available for 24 hours before disappearing automatically. There are times when you want to save a particular Status shared by one of your contacts. Unfortunately, WhatsApp doesn’t allow you to do this as it defeats the whole purpose of this feature.
Fortunately, if you have a jailbroken iPhone, then you can very easily save photos and videos from WhatsApp Status to your iPhone. All you have to do is to install a jailbreak tweak known as WA Status Save. This tweak bypasses WhatsApp’s restrictions and allows you to save Statuses. The best part is that it supports jailbroken devices running iOS 8, iOS 9, as well as iOS 10.
In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to download and install this jailbreak tweak, and use it to save photos and videos from WhatsApp Status to your iPhone’s Camera Roll. If you wish to jailbreak your iPhone running iOS 10, then you can read our detailed jailbreak guide to learn how it’s done.
How to Save WhatsApp Status to iPhone Camera Roll
Step 1: On your jailbroken iPhone, open Cydia.
Step 2: Go to the Search tab and search for WA Status Save. Once found, tap on it to open.
Step 3: The tweak is a paid package which will cost you $1.99. Tap on the purchase button to buy the package.
Step 4: After you purchase the tweak, tap on the Install button, then press Confirm to begin installing the tweak on your iPhone.
Step 5: Now that you have downloaded and installed this tweak, you’re ready to save WhatsApp Status. Go to the Home screen and open WhatsApp.
Step 6: Open a Status which you wish to save.
Step 7: You’ll notice a new button in the top right corner that says ‘Save‘. Tap on this button to save the photo or video to your iPhone.
Step 8: Once the media is saved, a message appears on the screen that says “Save succeed!”.
And that’s it! The photo or video that you saved from WhatsApp Status should now be available in your Camera Roll. Open the Photos app, go to the Camera Roll album and there you should find the saved media. You can now share this media with your friends on other apps or use it for a different purpose.
When you share photos and videos via WhatsApp Status, it can be viewed by everyone who has you in their contacts list. This is a major privacy issue, but luckily, WhatsApp tackles this by allowing users to set the privacy of Statuses. You can choose who gets to view the photos and videos that you share via WhatsApp Status. If you wish to learn how this is done, read our guide on how to set the privacy of WhatsApp Status.
