Skype Screen Sharing

After initially launching screen sharing as beta in April, Skype has now rolled out the feature to its iOS and Android app. The feature allows iPhone and iPad owners to share their screen with other parties in a video call.

Screen Sharing can be used for troubleshooting purposes or presentation purposes. The feature also helps Skype differentiate itself from other video calling apps on the App Store.

Apart from Screen Sharing, the update also introduces a redesigned mobile calling screen with a cleaner look. A single tap while on an ongoing call will dismiss the call controls from the display. You can double tap to remove all controls from the screen and put the video in focus. To bring back the controls, simply tap on the screen again.

How to Use Screen Sharing in Skype

To use Screen Sharing in Skype, initiate a video call, tap the “…” (more) menu at the bottom. From the menu that opens up, select Screen sharing from the bottom tab bar. Select Skype from the dialog box that opens up and tap Start Broadcast to initiate screen sharing.

Other new features recently introduced by Skype including Call recording can be accessed from this new “…” menu.
