The whole world might have moved to streaming services and online radios but the good old analog FM radio still has its own charm. Back when smartphones were just becoming commonplace in everyone’s world, they featured a built-in FM radio. Over the years though, things changed and the FM radio went missing from smartphones.
Sadly, Apple never jumped on the FM radio bandwagon, and now with the company offering its own music streaming service, it has less one less reason to do so. So, unsurprisingly, the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus unveiled today do not feature FM radio.
Now, it is not like Apple has not included an FM receiver on its new iPhones. Just like all the older iPhones, even the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus feature an FM receiver. It has just been deactivated by Apple and until the company activates it, there’s not much that one can do.
If you still want to listen to FM radio on your new iPhone, you can try using TuneIn Radio. The app streams thousands of radio channels from across the world over the internet. You might need to subscribe to the app depending on your use but at least this way you will still be able to listen to your favorite FM channels on your brand new iPhone.
