5 years after the launch of the massively popular Asphalt 8, Gameloft has released a new game in the series: Asphalt 9. The game was soft-launched over three months ago to a close group of beta testers for feedback purposes.

Asphalt 9: Legends comes with vastly improved graphics, a stellar soundtrack, improved and more intuitive controls, along with more customization options. With over 50 cars and 70 new race tracks, Asphalt 9 promises to deliver hours of meaningful gaming experience as well.

The game itself is free to download and play but just like Asphalt 8, it is filled with IAPs. The 1.5GB game requires iOS 8 or later, and it is compatible with iPhone 5s and iPad mini 2 or higher.

I downloaded and played Asphalt 9 for a few minutes on my iPad Pro and while the new graphics and improved gameplay are definitely an improvement, the game now requires an always-on internet connection to work which might not go down well with a lot of people. On the positive side, this means you do get features like a 7-player multiplayer mode and the ability to form a community with other players.
