Hyundai has not been shy in its support of Apple CarPlay, which brings iOS into the vehicle through infotainment displays, and the company is back at it again with a pair of additional vehicles.
Hyundai has officially announced support for CarPlay in both the 2017 Sonata and 2017 Tucson, with press releases going out revealing the two new vehicles, and their included technology. The pair of vehicles, as is par for the course with these vehicles, also supports Google’s response to CarPlay, Android Auto:
“The Tucson offers a standard five-inch color LCD display with rearview camera and touchscreen function for intuitive operation. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also available along with Apple Siri® “Eyes Free” integration. On the navigation-equipped Tucson, popular apps such as Pandora® Internet Radio are already integrated with the multimedia system… The 2017 Sonata is available with many comfort and convenience features like our hands-free smart trunk, 8-inch navigation display, Apple CarPlay ™, Android Auto™, electronic parking brake, and Blue Link telematics system.”
At this point, we’ve seen CarPlay in the 2015 Sonata, and we heard recently that the 2017 Elantra would support CarPlay as well. And, back in May, Hyundai officially added support to a long list of vehicles, from the 2016 Elantra GT, to the 2017 Santa Fe lineup as well.
