Niantic has finally updated Pokémon GO with support for the taller iPhone X display. Until now, users had to stick to the standard version with the content squeezed between the bars on the top and bottom. The update also brings an immersive AR game mode, further adding to the feature set of the popular game.
Although Pokémon GO has diminished in popularity since its initial launch, the game is expected to get a new lease of life with the iPhone X and the enhanced AR mode feature. This basically allows users to interact more freely with Pokémon that they find in the wild.
Niantic has also launched a slew of challenges and promos to encourage further usage of the game. One of the rare Pokémon, Farfetch’d, is available for a limited time in the U.S. It’s found more freely in Asian regions, however.
Niantic has announced the launch of a Harry Potter based game next, although it’s not clear if it will follow the same path as Pokémon GO. The company is making a name for itself with Pokémon GO, so it’s only fair that they try their hand with yet another popular franchise. Niantic is also known for Ingress, an AR based open-narrative game launched originally in December 2013.
