We have some great news for jailbreakers, coolstar announced the release date for the much-awaited Cydia for iOS 11. A few hours back, iOS Developer, nullpixel, teased Cydia for iOS 11 running on his iPhone X by sharing screenshots on Twitter.
The release date for Cydia for iOS 11 is Thursday, February 15. coolstar has also said that “the version of Cydia included in Electra will have the letterboxing black bars on iPhone X; we won’t mess with it much until maybe after release as the Cydia build has been tested and works.”
Ever since the LiberiOS jailbreak, the first jailbreak for iOS 11, iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus was released, we have been eagerly waiting for Cydia, the app store for jailbreak tweaks and themes, so it is finally good to know it will be available in a couple of days.
It is unlikely that you will be able to install paid jailbreak tweaks as purchases won’t be enabled until the official version of Cydia for iOS 11 has not been released by saurik. It is not clear if it will also include Cydia Substrate for iOS 11 as it would be required for the tweaks to work.
Jay Freeman aka saurik had also promised to release Cydia for iOS 11, however, he has gone quiet for the last few days.
It would be quite a coup if coolstar releases Cydia before saurik. So kudos to coolstar for patching Cydia to make it compatible with iOS 11. While it is possible to install jailbreak tweaks and themes manually, Cydia for iOS 11 will make it a lot easier, and enable jailbreakers to make the most of jailbreaking their iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
