Slack has finally joined the Dark Side! The collaborative tool had recently released an update that made the app faster and better in many ways. Now Slack has gained yet another update that adds Dark Mode. In the recent past, all mobile operating systems and apps have been adding Dark Mode.
Dark Mode makes it easier to use Slack during night time. The app automatically turns its user interface to black and thus reduces the overall glare. Dark Mode is currently being rolled out for Mac, Windows, and Linux. It is worth mentioning that Dark Mode was already available for iOS.
According to George Zamfir, Slack accessibility product manager, “Dark mode is an important feature for lots of people,” “It’s helpful for working at night or in low light, and we know many need it for accessibility reasons like visual impairments, migraines or other visual disorders”

That being said, the new Dark Mode on Slack will not support macOS system-wide dark mode. However, Slack is working on bringing support in the near future. The upcoming feature will be called “sync with OS settings” and the Dark Mode will work in tandem with macOS native settings. Dark Mode has eased my life, working on Mac or even iOS at late night is less daunting. Apart from reducing eye strain, the Dark Mode also improves visibility in the dark.
