We had reported a couple of weeks back that there was rumors that the next version of iTunes (iTunes 9) might give users the ability to visually organize and arrange iPhone apps within iTunes.
If you can’t wait then you should checkout Movement. It’s an application that makes it easier to rearrange iPhone apps on the iPhone or iPod Touch.
Movement is developed by Mac developer Jeff Stieler. You will need a jailbroken iPhone to use Movement, and it is currently available only for Mac users. Jeff has mentioned that Windows users might have to wait for sometime so looks like he is working on a Windows version as well.
Even though there are tricks, which make it a little easier to manage iPhone apps on iPhone's home screen, I have always felt that Apple should provide a better way to manage iPhone apps within iTunes as it would be a lot easier to do it on the computer rather than managing them on the iPhone.
Movement does exactly that as it allows users to rearrange iPhone apps on their Mac rather than doing it on the iPhone.
You can checkout the video demo of the application below:
It seems to be pretty cool. You can download the Movement application for free from the developer’s website.
I haven't tried it yet, so if you check it out, please let us know how it goes.
Update 1:
Corrected the name of the developer (ouch!), sorry about that Jeff. Btw, great job with the app.
Update 2:
GhostRider has just informed us that Jeff won't be working on the Windows version as we had speculated. Here is the note from Jeff:
I am sorry, but I have no plans of porting Movement to Windows.
Instead, I will focus my free time into improving Movement as it currently exists.
My apologies to all the Windows users wanting Movement, I just don't have the time!"
Thanks GhostRider for the tip!
