The Pangu jailbreak for iOS 9 – 9.0.2 has been out for a couple of months and there has been an incredible amount of new tweak releases ever since.
Here are some of our favorite jailbreak apps and tweaks that have been released for iOS 9 that enhance the functionality or help you customize your iOS device. It’s a good mix of some new ones released for iOS 9 to take advantage of the new features and some of our long time favorites.
#1. Activator
Activator allows you to invoke actions using shortcuts from anywhere in the iOS. You will be surprised by the number of shortcuts you can use such as double tap on the status bar, triple tap the Home button, double press the sleep button to trigger stock actions or launch an app or go to the Settings toggle. It offers almost limitless shortcuts to make it easier to use your iPhone.
Activator is a must-have jailbreak tweak for power users.

#2. Anemone
Theming is one of the main reasons folks jailbreak their devices. Of course, when I mention theming for jailbreak, WinterBoard is probably going to be the first suggestion that you’ll hear. However, Anemone is a popular alternative to Winterboard that has been gaining traction recently and comes with advanced features.

#3. Tage
If you were a fan of Zephyr, the jailbreak tweak that brought cool multitasking gestures to the iPhone then you’re going to love Tage. It allows you to access the app switcher, close apps, switch apps using gestures. It also includes the Auxo-like Quick Switcher feature, which is quite responsive and a joy to use.

#4. iCaughtU Pro (iOS 9)
Apple has made Find My iPhone, the anti-theft feature a lot more robust by adding Activation lock. It makes it impossible for a person who steals your iOS device to use it. However, it is still not fool proof when it comes to tracking your stolen device as someone can easily turn off your device.
This is where jailbreak tweak iCaughtU Pro comes in handy. It not only prevents someone from turning off your device, which would make Find My iPhone ineffective, it also takes a photograph of the person who tries to turn it off or unlock it using an incorrect passcode, and emails it with the GPS location, which can be very useful in catching the thief.

#5. FlipControlCenter
Apple added the much needed Control Center feature in iOS 7, which gives you quick access to System toggles, music controls, AirPlay, AirDrop and apps from anywhere in iOS, including the Lock screen. However, the number of system toggles and quick launch apps are limited.
FlipControlCenter addresses this limitation by allowing you to add additional toggles and quick launch options to Control Center. You can also customise the order and remove or add toggles from Settings.

#6. BytaFont 3
Other than theming your app icons and user interface, jailbreaking also allows you to use a custom font on your iPhone. BytaFont 3 is a popular Cydia package that allows you to change the default fonts on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

#7. EnableLivePhotos
Live Photos is one of the flagship features that is exclusively available only on the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. If you’ve jailbroken your iOS device then you can enjoy Live Photos on your older devices with EnableLivePhotos. When you take a photo, it will automatically record a few moments before and after you tap on the shutter button so that you can preview it as a Live Photo.

#8. VirtualHome
VirtualHome was the first jailbreak tweak ever to be released for Touch ID, and a must-have tweak for fingerprint sensor. VirtualHome 8 n 9 allows you to use Touch ID as the Home button, so after installing the jailbreak tweak, placing your finger on the Home button/Touch ID when you’re on the Home screen will open the app switcher, so you don’t have to double click on the Home button to access it. Similarly, if you’re using an app, then a tap on the Home button will take you to the Home screen. It helps in minimizing the wear and tear of the Home button.
If your iPhone is locked, the tweak includes a feature called QuickUnlock, which saves you the trouble of tapping on the Home or Sleep/Wake button to wake it up, and directly takes you to the Home screen when you place your finger on the Home button/Touch ID.

#9. Eclipse 3
Eclipse 3 is a very interesting tweak that brings night mode to iOS 9. It changes the theme of all the apps interface to a darker color scheme that makes it easier to read at night and reduces the amount of strain on your eyes.

#10. f.lux
If there’s one jailbreak tweak that I would recommend every jailbreaker to try then it’s F.lux. The tweak automatically adjusts the color of your iPhone’s display to better adapt to the time of the day to reduce strain on your eyes. You’d be amazed to realize how relaxed your eyes feel after installing this tweak, especially if you use your iPhone just before sleeping.

#11. HideMeX

#12. BioLockdown
Sometimes when you hand over your iPhone to a friend or family member to check out all the tweaks and customizations you have on your device, you may be thinking in the back of your head, “I hope they don’t go into (specific app here)”. Maybe it’s some embarrassing photos, or even financial information that they have no business knowing. Either way, with BioLockdown, you have the ability to lock them out of whatever you find necessary. It allows you to lock your apps, Control Center switches (system toggles), and Settings pane using Touch ID.

#13. RevealMenu
RevealMenu brings 3D Touch Quick Actions to older devices and comes with a perk that makes it superior to other packages.
The tweak allows you to tap and hold on any app icon on the Home screen to view the 3D Touch-style menu, and what’s more interesting is that you can slide your finger to any of the menu options to invoke them without lifting your finger off the screen in one single gesture.

#14. iFile
iFile offers a complete file manager and viewer for the iPhone. It even gives access to device files like Finder on the Mac. It also allows you to edit text files and property lists, which can be quite useful occasionally.

#15. Pegasus
Picture in Picture is a new iOS 9 feature that is available exclusively on select iPad models. It essentially allows you to move videos or Facetime calls into a smaller floating window while using other apps at the same time.
If you’d like to enjoy this feature then you should definitely check out Pegasus. It ports this feature to all the devices that are running iOS 9

#16. Springtomize 3
Springtomize allows you to customize almost every aspect of iOS. You can do things such as increase the number of apps in the dock to 10, give the dock a cool coverflow effect, change the duration of the system-wide animations, remove page limits, customize the default animations, customize the lock screen, hide stock app icons and lots more.

#17. TypeStatus 2
TypeStatus lets you know when someone starts to type an iMessage by displaying a typing indicator in the Status bar. Likewise, you will also be notified when your iMessage has been read by a recipient.

#19. Slide2Kill 9
The best of tweak list would be incomplete without a tweak that allows you to kill all apps running in the background. Slide2Kill 9 allows you to kill all apps running in the background by swiping down in the app switcher.

#20. WeatherBoard 2
Weatherboard 2 lets you to take a quick glance at the weather condition directly on the Lock screen. It displays weather information such as the current temperature and the highest and lowest peak temperatures of the day just below the clock on the Lock screen. Swiping the Lock screen to the left displays additional weather information such as daily or weekly forecasts.

#21. WhatsApp ++
WhatsApp++ is one of my favorite jailbreak tweaks which brings a ton of enhancements to WhatsApp and gets rid of certain restrictions. This includes hiding your last seen and online status from others without the 24 hours restriction, disable delivery and read receipts, use full profile pictures, send unlimited media and so much more.

#22. Winterboard
Winterboard is one of the popular theming tool for iOS 9. With it, you can completely change the look and feel of your iOS device by applying themes downloaded from Cydia.

#23. 3DNotifications
3DNotifications brings Peek and Pop functionality to iOS notifications in Notification Center. You can tap lightly on a notification to take a look at its preview, which contains additional content relevant to the notification. If it has quick actions as well then you can swipe up the preview to access them or swipe to the left to clear the notification.
Likewise, tapping harder on the notification allows you to open it in the corresponding app.

#24. iCleaner
iCleaner lets you remove unnecessary files from your iOS device and free up storage on your iOS device, which can become a precious commodity over time. It removes unnecessary files such as message attachments, cookies, Safari cache, application cache and more.

#25. iKeyWi 3 (iOS 8 & 9)
iKeyWi adds a 5th row of keys to the virtual keyboard. By default, it adds number keys in the fifth row, which means you can save time as you don’t have to tap on the 123 key to access them, and gives quick access to some of the commonly used punctuations and symbols when you tap the Shift key. It also allows you to customize the keys in the 5th row via the Settings app to any character you want. iKeyWi remains one of our favorite tweaks despite the ability to add third-party keyboards since iOS 8.

#27. Cydget

#28. Zeppelin
Zepplin allows you to change the carrier logo on your jailbroken iPhone. So instead of displaying your carrier’s name, you can change it to a Batman, Apple logo or even the cool Pac-Man carrier logo.

Appendix
3D Touch has been the focal point of Cydia developers ever since the iOS 9 jailbreak was released. Appendix is a jailbreak tweak that takes advantage of 3D Touch Quick Actions feature to allow users to quickly launch apps in a folder.
When you force touch on a folder, the tweak opens a shortcut menu displaying the first four apps contained within the folder. You can tap on any one of the apps to launch them quickly. This means that you no longer need to open folders to launch an app.

BreadcrumbsAway
One of the new features of iOS 9 is the back to app shortcut which appears in the top left corner of the Status bar and allows you to switch back to the original app from where you were redirected. If you’re not fond of the new feature then you should check out BreadcrumbsAway.
The jailbreak tweak lets you dismiss the Back to App shortcut by swiping it to the left. Once hidden, it brings back the Cellular and Wi-Fi signal indicators.

Auxo Legacy Edition
Auxo Legacy Edition brings back the much anticipated experience of the original Auxo which was released for the first time. While Auxo 2 and Auxo 3 have been dubbed as the best jailbreak tweaks of their time, none provide the feeling of the original version.

Cairo
Cairo is an interesting tweak that replaces the Music app icon on the Home screen with the album artwork of the currently playing song. The artwork is the same as the one that appears in the Now Playing section of Music when the song is playing.

Censio brings App Store-like reviews to Cydia giving users the ability to submit one to five star ratings for tweaks along with a short review. It then aggregates all the ratings of a tweak and provides its average rating and lets you view the reviews left by users.

NCCards
Inspired by Apple Watch notification, NCCards brings card-like previews to Notification Center in iOS 9 making the notifications appear as cards rather than a string of text. The tweak groups all notifications into separate cards based on the app that they belong to.
What’s more interesting is that the cards can also be collapsed to take less space. If you have more than one notification for an app, you can choose to either collapse the card or keep it expanded.

Unicode Faces
Do you frequently use Unicode faces when messaging? If yes, you should definitely consider checking out Unicode Faces tweak which adds a Unicode keyboard to your device. Performing a tap and hold gesture on the Emoji or Spacebar key lets you insert a Unicode emoticon.

NewsOfTheWorld
When Apple announced its all-new News app alongside iOS 9 during the WWDC 2015 Keynote, it said that it would be available in the U.S., U.K. and Australia at launch. However, when Apple released iOS 9 last month, it was available only in the U.S.
NewsOfTheWorld removes this restriction by enabling the Apple News app for users in all regions.

SwitchService
SwitchService provides a very convenient method of switching between iMessage and SMS. It allows you to tap and hold on the Send button to switch between the two modes of message sending. Additionally, the color of the Send button changes to reflect the type of the message being sent.

Tactful
With Tactful installed, when you perform 3D Touch gesture on Cydia’s app icon, a menu is revealed which consists of four shortcuts that allow you to do the following:
- Refresh repos
- Add a new repo
- View all the recently installed tweaks
- Search for a package in Cydia
All of these shortcuts enable you to use Cydia more efficiently and perform certain tasks much quicker.
