Pokemon Go

Pokémon Go is now available to download from the App Store five weeks after it was first made available to field testers in the U.S. The much-anticipated title lets fans collect their favorite pocket monsters in the real world for the first time.

Pokémon Go is probably the closest we will come to real-life Pokémon hunting. It lets you find amazing creatures in augmented reality as you explore the world around you, then allows you to train them up and put them to the test against Pokémon gym leaders.

When you collect new creatures, you only get their eggs, and there’s no indication what you’ve got until it actually hatches. This encourages players to be more active and collect as many eggs as possible to find the Pokémon they really want.

Right now, Pokémon Go is only available to those in New Zealand. However, it’s common for new iOS releases to go live there first before reaching other markets. It’s thought the game should be available in the U.S., the U.K., and most other countries later today.

Pokémon Go is a free download, but there are some in-app purchases that add additional characters and content. You can also pick up a $35 wearable add-on, which goes on sale later this month, that lets you find Pokémon even when you don’t have your smartphone.
