Apple has released a new video on its YouTube channel highlighting selfies taken on the iPhone X. The 30-second ad shows a variety of selfies taken from the iPhone X with various Portrait Lighting effects applied.

Apple uses a poetry by Muhammad Ali to highlight the selfies. Apple had previously uploaded videos on its YouTube channel showing how to use Portrait Lighting feature on the iPhone X.

The iPhone X features a 7MP ‘TrueDepth’ camera at the front. Coupled with the other components hidden inside the notch at the front of the handset, the TrueDepth camera is able to sense depth which allows the iPhone X to click Portrait selfies and apply Portrait Lighting effects.

The TrueDepth camera on the iPhone X is also used for Animoji and Face ID in iOS 11. The TrueDepth camera on the iPhone X is superior to the regular 7MP camera found on the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.

The TrueDepth camera is one of the key highlights of the iPhone X and the technology behind it puts Apple ahead of Android OEMs by at least 2.5 years. While Android OEMs make use of only the front facing camera for face unlocking purposes, Apple uses its more advanced TrueDepth camera to achieve the same end result but with improved security.
