We all want more storage space on our device and constantly look for ways to achieve this. As such, clearing your app cache on a regular basis helps to free up some of the space on your iPhone or iPad.
Apps that cache their data usually provide an option to clear it. One such app is Dropbox, which caches the images and documents that you view along with the files list. This allows the cached documents and files to load much faster and without any internet connection.
Over time, as more and more data are cached, they take up some space on your device. Therefore, it’s a good practice to clear your Dropbox cache every once in a while to save the valuable storage space.
Here’s how to clear your Dropbox cache on iPhone or iPad and free up some space.
How to Clear Dropbox Cache on iPhone or iPad to Free Up Storage Space
Step 1: Open the Dropbox app on your iOS device.
Step 2: Go to the Recents tab and tap on the settings icon in the top left corner.
Step 3: Scroll to the bottom and tap on Clear Cache.
Step 4: A popup message appears for confirmation. Tap on Clear Cache.
Dropbox now deletes the cached data and files on your iOS device. This won’t remove any files from your account, it just deletes the items that are cached on your local device storage. By clearing the cache, it also means that some files may take longer to load as they no longer exist in the cache.
It’s important to note that as you use Dropbox, the cache will grow in size again. There’s no option to disable caching, but it’s not a big issue as it won’t take up much space unless you download very large files.
