At the end of May, and leading into June, Chevrolet’s support for Apple CarPlay was confirmed, especially as the Corvette Z06 rolled off the assembly line.
Now, it’s time for Honda to reaffirm its support for Apple’s in-car system. According to a report published recently by 9to5Mac, Honda announced at an event in Silicon Valley that it would begin supporting CarPlay in 2016. To be specific, the first model within the company’s lineup to support CarPlay would be the 2016 Honda Accord. It will also be supporting Google’s Android Auto.
Regarding future support for CarPlay, Honda’s American Research and Development head Frank Paluch said that it was “only the beginning,” which suggests that Honda does indeed have plans to bring CarPlay (and Android Auto) to other models within Honda’s garage.
As it stands, Apple has 34 auto manufacturers listed as supporters of CarPlay, but the majority of those companies have not shipped a vehicle with support for the in-car system just yet.
