TikTok is currently the most fun app for short-form videos. Yes, it’s even more popular than Instagram when it comes to vertical videos. The app, previously known as Musical.ly, lets users create fun 15 seconds lip-sync videos. You can spend hours just looking at fun videos in TikTok. But what if you want to download and save some of your favorite TikTok videos offline? Or share them with your friends on WhatsApp? That’s quite easy to do.
How to Download Videos in TikTok App
The app has a built-in download feature. And it works with most public facing and viral videos.
Step 1: Open the TikTok app and find the video you want to download.
Step 2: Tap on the Share button and select Save Video.
Now, the video will be downloaded in the background and will be stored to your device, locally. To find the save video, open the Photos app and swipe to the bottom of the All Photos album.
How to Download TikTok Videos Using Instagram Stories
There are some videos which won’t have a Save Video button. But don’t worry, there’s a simple workaround. You just need the Instagram app installed (and logged in).
Step 1: Open the TikTok app and find the video.
Step 2: Tap on the Share button. You won’t find the Save Video button. Instead, tap on the Stories button (or Instagram button).
Step 3: You’ll see the progress bar for saving the video. Then the app will open Instagram, with the screen for adding a new story. You’ll find the video here playing already.
Step 4: Tap on the Download button from the top toolbar. The video has just been saved to your Camera Roll. Tap on the X button to exit the story view.
How to Download TikTok Videos Using Total Files App
If you don’t want to use Instagram, you can use a file manager app like Total Files to download the video.
Step 1: Open the TikTok app and find the video.
Step 2: Tap on the Share button and select Copy Link.
Step 3: Open the Total Files app and tap on the Globe icon in the bottom-right.
Step 4: From the URL bar, paste in the link we just copied and tap on Go.
Step 5: Play the video and it will play in full-screen view.
Step 6: Tap on the screen and the app will ask you if you want to download the video. Tap on the green Checkmark button and choose a destination.
Step 7: Tap on the File icon and from the Local section, you’ll see the downloaded video right there. From here, tap on the Menu button next to the video for options. You can convert the video to audio, or upload to a cloud account. If you want to save it to Camera Roll, tap on Share and then choose Save Video.
