Google yesterday unveiled a brand new interface for Gmail on the web. The redesigned interface streamlines the UI and introduces a side panel for tighter integration with other Google apps and third-party add-ons.
The revamped UI makes doing certain day-to-day actions quicker including the ability to archive or snooze emails, RSVP invites, and more.
Google has also introduced plenty of new features like a confidential mode for attachments that auto-expire after a pre-specified time, ability to snooze notifications, Tasks integration, and more. These features will be rolled out to Gmail and G Suite users over the coming weeks and months.
Like with any other Google product, the redesigned Gmail will be slowly rolled out to the consumer version of Gmail over the coming weeks and months. If like me, you are impatient though, you can get the new Gmail on the web right away. Here’s how.
How to Get the New Gmail on Web Right Away
Step 1: Head over to Gmail.com and log in to your primary Google account.
Step 2: Click the Settings (cog) button located in the right corner and select the Try the new Gmail option.
Step 3: You will then have to select a Display Density mode that you like: Default, Comfortable, and Compact. Once done, you will be able to enjoy the new Gmail on the web.
If you don’t see the option to try out the new Gmail, worry not. Google is rolling out the option in stages so it might not show up immediately for your account.
