Super Mario Run is a pretty fun game. But it can be even more fun when you play it again using a different character. This leads to a slightly different gameplay experience. Just enough to keep things interesting. When you start out, you’ve got Mario to play with. But there are 5 more characters, locked away. This is how you can unlock Toad. Yoshi, Toadette, Luigi and Princess Peach.

How to Unlock Toad
Toad is the easiest of them to unlock. You’ll need to make sure you’ve linked your Nintendo account to the game first. Then, from the Kingdom screen, tap on “My Nintendo“. Then from the Rewards section, tap on the “Redeem” button under Toad’s image. Then go back to the Kingdom, tap on the gift box to unlock Toad.
How to Unlock Luigi
Mario’s brother won’t come to you unless you build him a home. Go to the Kingdom Builder by tapping the “Build” button. Then select “Place” and purchase the “Luigi’s House” building. If you don’t see it here, that’s because you haven’t collected 150 green and 150 purple toads in Toad Rally.
How to Unlock Yoshi
Yoshi also needs you to build him a house first. Once you have 30 red and yellow toads, you’ll see Yoshi’s house in the kingdom shop.
How to Unlock Toadette
To create a building for Toadette you’ll need to collect 200 red, blue and green toads. Once you have that you’ll be able to build a house for her. And she’ll be unlocked.
How to Unlock Princess Peach
Princess Peach has been kidnapped by Bower. The only way to unlock her is to complete all 24 levels of the World Tour.
How to Switch Between Characters
Once you’ve got all the characters you need, you’ll want to play as them. To switch to a different character, go into the World Tour mode and select a level. Before hitting “Start“, tap on the bubble in the bottom-right corner. Currently, it will show Mario’s face.
From this screen, you can switch between different characters.
