When using the YouTube app on iPhone, you can use the scrubber for navigating the video. This is a handy tool for making long jumps in the video but not so good when it comes to making short skips.
To solve this issue, YouTube introduced a new feature that allows viewers to quickly skip forward or backward by 10 seconds. All it takes is a few tap gestures and in this tutorial, we will show you how it can be done using the YouTube app on iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
Skip Forward or Rewind by 10 Seconds in YouTube on iPhone or iPad
Step 1: Go the the App Store and update YouTube to the latest available version. This new feature works with YouTube 12.04 and later.
Step 2: Open the YouTube app and play a video that you’d like to watch.
Step 3: To skip ahead by 10 seconds, double tap on the right side of the video player. Similarly, double tap on the left side to rewind by 10 seconds.
- You can keep on double tapping on the right or left side of the video player to keep on skipping forward or backward by 10 seconds.
As you can see, skipping or rewinding a video by a short duration is much easier now that YouTube has added the double tap gesture to its video player. This also works when you’re viewing a video in landscape mode. Simply double tap on either side of the video to skip forward or backward by 10 seconds.
