Rocha Software has released a new iOS app called Song2Email in the App Store.
As the name suggests the app allows iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users to send songs from your music library to their friends via email.
Song2Email includes the following features:
- Multiple songs can be sent in a single email!
- Works over WiFi or 3G.
- Songs will have all their metadata like song/artist names and cover art left intact!
- Recipients will be able to access the songs on their computers, as well as on mobile devices of all kinds.
- Universal app for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.
The app works exactly as advertised. The user interface of the app is quite simple but functional. If you’ve migrated to iCloud then note that the song needs to be downloaded to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to be able to send the song via email. Please note that the maximum combined attachment size for a single email is limited to 20MB on the iPhone 4S, 4 and iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4th generation and iPad/iPad 2, and 10MB on older devices.
This app reminded us of Song Sender – a native app developed by Erica Sadun in 2007 even before Apple launched the App Store, which also allowed you to send songs to your friends via email. We were quite surprised to see Apple approve the app as we thought music labels would have piracy concerns with such apps.
Song2Email is available in the App Store for $0.99 (at a 50% discount for a limited period). You can download it using this App Store link and don’t forget to let us know what you think about the app in the comments.
