Before today, Sonos had version 5.2 rolling around in a beta for users to try out ahead of its public launch. That time has finally come.

On Thursday, December 4, Sonos officially announced the public launch of version 5.2 on its blog. The update itself has been sent to Sonos players/software as a whole, but it has also been updated to version 5.2 with the official iOS app as well. With the new version, comes support for multiple accounts within a single streaming music service. What that means for users is now a whole family that uses, say, Spotify can now use the same Sonos player without jumping through hoops.

Sonos hopes this will make it easier for everyone in the home to enjoy the music they love.

The update also includes better playback performance from the Sonos PLAYBAR. Now, users should notice an improved quality of sound at any level, including better balance and an improved soundstage. For iOS, the app now supports better music search functions, which should make it easier to find the music you want to play from any of the apps you might have it stored with.

The software update for the iOS app is available now, and can be found through the source link below.
