When we have published a post on some of the hidden features in iPhone OS 3.0, we had mentioned that you can now have 11 home screens instead of the previous limit of 9 home screens.
If 11 home screens are still not good enough, and you want more then you will find this trick discovered by Dayna of PHP-Princess very useful.
She discovered a way to create more than 11 home screens while moving around icons on her iPhone.
You first need to have 11 pages of iPhone apps to try this trick and then need to follow these simple steps:
- Move some of the default iPhone apps like Weather, Stocks, YouTube, Voice Memos etc. to the last home screen (I couldn't figure out the significance of moving default iPhone apps to the last home screen).
- Now take one icon from the 10th home screen and drag it over to the 11th home screen. This will force the last icon to disappear from that home screen.
- You should then download an iPhone app to fill the empty space created on the 10th home screen.
- And as Dayna puts it, magically you will see the 12th home screen which will have all the iPhone apps that were not visible.
She has also published a screenshot to confirm that the trick works.
I have many iPhone apps installed on my iPhone 3GS, however, I prefer to use Spotlight for iPhone (iPhone's search feature) as a quicker way to launch an iPhone app rather than flicking through home screens to launch them. But this trick is good to know so kudos to Dayna for discovering it.
As always, please let us know how it goes.
