Apple has some really gorgeous screen savers for the Apple TV, and they look even better in 4K resolution and HDR. What if you don’t have an Apple TV and you want those aerial visuals on your Mac’s screen? Yes, there’s an app for that.

Aerial is a free app that can get you Apple TV’s Screen Savers on a computer running macOS. It brings all the latest screen savers that Apple has released until now for tvOS, and all of them are available in 4K resolution with HDR10 encoding. You can even add information widgets such as battery level, clock, countdown timer, or a custom message and choose the location.

The app offers a lot of options, and you can get really overwhelmed by all the features. The HDR feature would only work well if your computer runs macOS 10.15 Catalina (or later) and it is hooked to either the Apple Pro Display XDR or another HDR10-certified monitor from brands like ASUS, Dell, or LG.

These video files are pretty and they can eat up a lot of data from your internet, but the good thing is, there’s an option to downgrade the resolution to 1080p and even change the video codecs. You can even cache video files to save on some bandwidth. By default, random screen savers start playing but you can change that as well.

Last but not the least, Aerial also offers an option to choose which display you want screen savers to appear on, in case you have a multi-monitor setup. You can even set the time when you want the screen savers to appear or choose to sync it with macOS Catalina’s Night Shift features.
