The first Macintosh was unveiled 30 years ago today, and Apple is commemorating this anniversary on its website, in its corporate headquarters and in the Mac App store. Apple’s executives drummed up interest in the anniversary by talking with Jason Snell of Macworld and David Muir of ABC News about the evolution of the Mac and the company’s inner workings. Earlier today, the world awoke to an Apple website decorated for the Mac ands its 30-years of evolution. The site featured a video about the Mac and a historical look at all the Mac models that were sold by the company. To thank its employees, Apple hung a poster on its campus that featured a simple 30 with an Apple logo as the zero. As reported by MacRumors, a close look at the design revealed the names of every former and current Apple employee.

Even the Mac App Store was included in this celebration. In a special “Happy Birthday, Mac” section, Apple highlights 30 apps and games that capture the spirit of what makes the Mac so extraordinary. The list of apps include all of Apple’s official apps like iMovie, Aperture, Keynote and more. There’s also an amazing apps list that picks the best of the best in the Mac App Store including Evernote, Fantastical, djay, iBank and others. Last, but not least is a list of games which includes popular titles like Civilization 5, Xcom: Enemy Unknown and Bioshock Infinite .
