Twitter today announced the rollout of revamped quote Tweet for the web and its official iPhone app. The revamped quote tweet functionality will embed the original tweet which in turn will allow users to add comments of up to 116 characters to it.

Previously, adding comments to a quote RT required a lot of creativity from the user since the original tweet itself used to take up all the character space.

On the official Twitter client for iOS, tapping the Retweet icon will bring up a pop-up that will ask users whether they want to do a normal retweet or a Quote tweet. If they select the latter, they will be able to add their comments to the tweet box before retweeting the tweet. Their comment will then show up along with the original tweet, which will now be embedded, on the timeline of their followers.

For now, the feature is only available on Twitter’s website and its official iOS client with the feature “coming soon” to the Android app.
