On Friday, September 19, Apple is going to unleash the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus onto the masses. Following more than 4 million preorders, it’s expected that the lines for the upcoming flagship devices will be lengthy. Many in those lines might be switching from another platform. Apple has you covered if that is the case.
As revealed by 9to5Mac, Apple has published a new page that’s designed specifically to help current Android users switch to the iOS platform when they pick up their new device later this week (even if it isn’t the iPhone 6, of course). The new guide goes in detail about several different areas: Mail/Contacts/Calendars, Photos/video, Music, Apps, Documents, and Books/PDFs. In each section, there’s a very brief description what an Android user can do, or expect to do, when they want to switch over specific content from their older device to the new one.
Of course, Apple has several instances were downloading their own apps, like Pages or Numbers, are highlighted. There are other areas where using other apps, like AT&T’s Mobile Transfer app, are also recommended. Bear in mind that it is believed that many, if not all iLife/iWork iOS apps will be pre-installed on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus 64GB and 128GB options right out of the box.
With the new screen sizes for the iPhone 6 lineup, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook believes this will be the time for the “mother of all upgrades,” many of which will be from other operating systems (including Android). This new transition tool could potentially make that switch even easier.
