Apple Peak performance

Apple today sent out invites for its “Peek performance” spring launch event on March 8. Despite COVID-19 cases going down in the US and Apple removing the mask mandate from its retail stores, the company will be holding its spring event virtually.

The event will be live-streamed from Apple Park on March 8 from 10 AM PST. Like all other previous Apple events, this one too can be viewed on YouTube, Apple TV, and other platforms.

Apple is expected to announce the iPhone SE 3 with 5G and a faster A15 Bionic chip, an iPad Air refresh with faster internals and an ultra-wide front camera, and possibly a new base model MacBook Pro with M2 chip. The new Apple silicon variant is not expected to bring any significant performance or efficiency bump, with reports suggesting it would feature a slightly faster GPU. The company could also announce a new high-end Mac mini variant with faster M1 Pro/Max Apple silicon chips.

The iPhone SE 3 is not expected to feature any major design or display changes. Instead, the company will focus on internal changes that will see it using a faster A15 Bionic chip and add 5G connectivity, which would make it the cheapest 5G iPhone in its lineup. You can find the confirmed iPhone SE 3 features based on leaks here.

The iPad Air 5 refresh is also not expected to be a major one — it will reportedly retain the same design. The only upgrade would be a faster A15 Bionic chip and 5G connectivity.

The company should also release iOS 14.5 to the public with new features like Face ID with a mask, new emoji, and more after the event.
