Apple Unveils new Apple TV 4K with Redesigned Remote, A12 Bionic

Apple has finally pulled the wraps from Apple TV 4K at the Spring Loaded event. As rumored earlier, the new Apple TV arrives with a completely redesigned remote and is powered by an A12 Bionic chip that boasts of improved graphics performance, better video decoding, and audio processing.

The latest generation Apple TV 4K supports a higher frame rate HDR and Dolby Vision video comparable to the gaming console. Apple is working with popular content providers including Fox Sports, Red Bull TV for high frame rate HDR. Furthermore, the high frame rate HDR support will be extended to content streamed via AirPlay on iPhone 12 Pro.

The previous generation Apple TV 4K used to support HDR, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos. The new Apple TV 4K offers high-frame rate HDR content and an overall boost in performance thanks to the A12 Bionic. Apple has introduced an intelligent color balance process that works with your iPhone. With the help of a light sensor on the iPhone, Apple TV compares the color balance to the industry standards of cinematographers. Apple TV uses the data to optimize video output resulting in accurate colors and enhanced contrast.

Siri remote was often criticized for lack of ergonomics and functionalities. The updated Apple TV 4K arrives with a new Siri remote that boasts better ergonomics and new functionalities. It comes with a power button and mute button that lets you control the TV without switching remotes. At the center, you get a scroll wheel with a click pad and touch controls. Apple has moved the Siri button to the right side of the remote. The new Siri remote is compatible with the 2017 model and Apple TV HD. You can purchase it separately for $59.

Siri support on Apple TV is now available in Austria, Ireland, and New Zealand. The Apple TV 4K price starts at $179 for the 32GB variant, while the 64GB variant is priced at $199. Both the models will go on sale beginning on April 30th. Apple claims the Apple TV 4K will use 100 percent recycled aluminum in the solder of the mainboard and Siri Remote enclosure.
