Want a phone with week-long battery life? Energizer — the company known for making batteries — has unveiled a phone at MWC 2019 featuring a massive 18,000mAh battery. Dubbed P18K Pop, the phone also has a pop-up selfie camera at the front as well.

The company actually making the phone is Avenir Telecom and it is simply using the Energizer branding for consumer attention.

The P18K Pop features a massive 18,000mAh battery and its 18mm thick — that’s 2.5x the thickness of the iPhone X. And at 18,000mAh, the P18K Pop battery is bigger than some of the popular power banks out there. Energizer has essentially slapped a power bank on a smartphone here.

The company did not have any working models at the MWC 2019 show floor, though it expects to launch the P18K Pop and a bunch of other smartphones announced by it in June.

Energizer is offering fast charging on the phone to quickly charge its massive 18,000mAh battery. How fast though? Well, a full 0-100 percent charge will take around 8 hours. That essentially means that once drained, you will have to charge your P18K Pop overnight. There’s no wireless charging here and that’s good in a way since charging such a massive battery wirelessly would take its own sweet time.

Other specs of the P18K Pop include a triple-camera setup at the rear, USB-C connectivity, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, MediaTek Helio P70 chipset, and a 6.2-inch FHD+ display. The handset will carry a price tag of €600 when it is launched.

Given how thick the Energizer 18K Pop is, it is ideally suited for people who regularly go on treks/expeditions and live in jungles for weeks at a stretch. With its modest internals, the P18K Pop should easily last around 8-10 days on a single charge.

Do you think Apple should also launch an iPhone with such a massive battery?
